What is CFA ?
Stands for Chartered Financial Analyst. It is one of the highest distinctions in the investment management profession. It is considered as the Gold standard for the investment industry, recognised all over the world.

What is the qualification required to do CFA ?
You should be maximum 24 months away from finishing your graduation.

Do I have to come from commerce or finance background to do CFA ?
Not necessary. You can be a graduate from any background. Infact, many Engineers also opt for CFA.

Is it tough to clear CFA exam ?
Yes, it is one of the toughest exam, however, with strong dedication and discipline, it can be cracked.

Is passport mandatory for giving CFA exam ?
Yes, it is not required when you register for the exam, however, it is required when you appear for the exam. It is the only accepted national identity proof to write the CFA exam.

How many hours of preparation is required for passing CFA ?
Each level requires around 300 hrs, however, it can differ based on candidate’s prior experience and knowledge.

When is the CFA exam held ?
Level 1 – February, May, August and November
Level 2 – May, August and November
Level 3 – August and November

What is the duration of the FinEx training?
Approximately 6 months, however, candidates who register early can continue to learn till they clear the exam.

What kind of questions are asked in CFA?
Level 1 – 180 Multiple choice questions (MCQs)
Level 2 – 88 MCQs with vignettes (small case studies)
Level 3 – Mixed set of essay type questions and MCQs with vignettes.

Is there any negative marks in the exam?
No negative marks for any wrong answers. So, please attempt all questions.

How can I get CFA study materials?
Once you pay the exam fee, CFA will provide you with the curriculum. Alternatively, candidates can also use the study material provided by Schweser.

Overall, how many years will it take to clear CFA?
Generally, it takes around 2.5 years it will take to complete the entire CFA Level1,2 and 3.

Is there any age limit for doing CFA?
There is no age limit for doing CFA.

How many attempts are allowed in CFA?
Each level can be attempted for maximum 6 times.
